CHEF and Food Writer, Gizzi Erskine, hosted an exclusive dinner for just 40 lucky guests at Tigerlily in Edinburgh on Wednesday 4th November.

The popular chef worked alongside Tigerlily’s chefs to dish up a specially chosen four course menu to showcase a selection of recipes from her latest cookbook, “Gizzi’s Healthy Appetite”

Not only that, Gizzi also met diners between and after the courses to provide top tips on how to create restaurant-standard dishes at home as well as offering signed copies of her new book to those keen to get started straight away.

The chef table with Gizzi started with a drinks reception followed by a delicious four course meal that included;

Smoked salmon cods roe with crudité

Ceviche with yuzu sesame and kumquats

Merguez shepherd’s pie

Maple, rosemary and orange tart with clotted cream

Gizzi Erskine said: “It was great to showcase some of my new recipes here in Edinburgh. Creating new dishes for people to enjoy is what I do best and it was a privilege to be able to work closely with the Tigerlily chefs to re-create the chosen menu.

“My new book offers a whole range of exciting new recipes for people to try out and I can’t wait to hear what everyone’s favourites are – I think the shepherd’s pie will be a big hit.”

Gizzi has been in the food industry for 14 years and has prepared her famous recipes for a whole list of celebrities including Adam Ant and Boy George. As well as dedicating time to write her popular cookbooks, Gizzi was also the Food Columnist for The Sunday Times Magazine and hosted The Observer Food Monthly Awards.

The George Street venue – which includes an award-winning boutique hotel – has recently undergone an impressive £500,000 makeover of its ground floor interior and décor.

David Johnston, Development Director at Montpeliers, said: “This was a fantastic night for any foodies or people looking for an extra special dining experience with one of the UK’s top chefs.

“Our chefs were ecstatic to have an insight into Gizzi’s delicious new recipes and learn first-hand how she created them.

“With Christmas just around the corner, it was also a great time to learn new recipes for approaching festive family occasions. The signed recipe book would also make the perfect gift for any cooking enthusiasts in the family.”

David added: “Tigerlily’s new design is all about making the venue more accessible and fun. People will be able to move around and explore different areas which will have individual features and, for the first time, you will be able to sit at the bar to eat.”

The much loved Georgian building has now been cleverly split into stylish areas that are aimed at being equally appealing for any dining experience, from high teas to special celebration occasions.

The new food menu includes re-imagined classics and bold new flavours with seasonality and healthy eating at its core. The day/evening menus feature a range of options from Bites & Boards to ‘Hot Off The Coals’ dishes and a new Dine Out for Two for £10 aimed at those with an hour to spare come lunch.
