School piping competiton media coverageSchoolgirls have hit the headlines after they overturned a traditional male bastion, by taking over one of Scotland’s most promising pipe bands.

Preston Lodge High School have had hundreds of youngsters have signed up to learn bagpipes and drums in their band, but the coveted places in the band are being dominated by girls.

The Scottish high school has 31 players in its pipe band, including 24 girls and just seven boys, Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships say the popularity of piping among the fairer sex is soaring.

The Pipe Band received coverage in the Sunday Post, a national Scottish institution, which

School piping in the Evening Newsreaches upward of 670,000 people every week; and in the Edinburgh Evening News, the daily paper serving the Scottish capital, which sells more than 30,000 copies every day.

The coverage was achieved as part of an ongoing PR campaign for Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships.
