Gilson Gray announces raft of promotions
GILSON GRAY has announced five new promotions, underlining its commitment to rewarding its talented team.
Lorna Davidson has been promoted to Associate, Litigation and Dispute Resolution while Iain Grant has made the move up to Senior Solicitor in the same department.
Shona Young has become a Senior Solicitor in the Family Law team and Nicola Gemmell is now Senior Finance Assistant, while Scott Buchanan has been promoted to the role of Paraplanner in the Gilson Gray Financial Management team.
Glen Gilson, Managing Partner at Gilson Gray, said: “Lorna, Iain, Shona, Nicola and Scott all thoroughly deserve their promotions which recognise the quality of the work each one of them provides to our clients on a daily basis.
“The main driver behind the firm was to create a cultural environment that is the best place to work at in Scottish law.
“The way we go about business planning engages every single person in the business through our appraisal systems, questionaires with staff, induction processes and the way which we solicit input from our team.
“And the way we reward them is a crucial element of this and allows them to be able to inform the direction of their own career.
“We want to be the most collegiate environment in the sector and it’s particularly satisfying to see this approach coming to life as these talented members of our team continue to progress through the business.
“Many businesses say that their people are their most important asset but very few actually manage them as such.”
Gilson Gray aims to be the best law firm in Scotland by using insightful and imaginative thinking to unite people with a common purpose.
The firm’s ethos is to maintain a positive and progressive environment through openness, energy and responsibility that results in collaborative success.
This different way of thinking was demonstrated recently when the firm held its company ‘away day’ which focused on wellness.
Every member of the firm’s staff spent the day in Glasgow learning about mindfulness techniques and ways to combat the stresses of modern life.
Fitness and nutrition experts were joined by speakers on mental health and financial wellbeing to hold interactive workshops with the Gilson Gray team members.
Glen added: “It’s been a long held perception that legal firms can offer a cold approach but we’re re-writing this script to ensure there’s a real vibrancy about Gilson Gray.
“This transfers to the enthusiastic approach we provide clients and the brilliant results we’re able to achieve thanks to our talented team.”
The firm’s success has been built on a strong belief of cherry picking the industry’s best people and providing them with a working environment that allows them to flourish.
No matter someone’s title or role within the business, the firm believes everyone maters and ensures they have a say in its future direction.
This ethos has enabled rapid growth across the business – which now has three established offices in Scotland – underlined by the latest promotions among its gifted team.
Gilson Gray was the largest full service law firm launch in Scottish legal history in 2014 when it opened simultaneously in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The firm picked up two awards at the 2017 Law Awards of Scotland adding to a host of other accolades, including six awards at the ACQ5 legal awards – the third year in a row that Gilson Gray has seen success – including Law Firm of the Year, Insolvency Lawyer of the Year, all for the second time in three years.
Gilson Gray also won Corporate Firm of the year 2018, following previous recognition as Litigation Firm of the Year.
