Former palace maid’s big day gets social care PR attention fit for a queen
By KITTI LACZKO
A FORMER Buckingham Palace servant celebrated her 105th birthday by dancing with relatives – and our team of care PR experts were on hand to record the event.
Remarkable Georgina Paterson celebrated the milestone in February with family and with caring staff and other residents of the Bield care home where she lives.
We knew that such an auspicious occasion was part of a story which deserved to be told to the widest possible audience, not least to show the fantastic work of our client, Bield.
As a result of our public relations work, Georgina’s story:
- Appeared in at least 10 significant publications
- Reached an audience of well over 1 million people
- Graced the front page of the Edinburgh Evening News
- Lit up national publications as diverse as The Herald, the Metro and The Daily Record
- Reached influential readers in a range of niche publications dedicated to care and specialist housing
The sprightly centenarian has been a resident of Bield’s Priorwood Court in the Scottish Borders town of Melrose for more than 25 years. Her advice for a long and happy life is to be happy with what you have, appreciate the small things in life, be truthful and keep yourself busy.
The team at Holyrood PR were certainly kept busy arranging video and photos to accompany the media release about Georgina’s long and active life. And the coverage delivered more than just recognition of a life well live.
For Bield, the coverage achieves numerous important business goals – celebrating the work of its staff, reminding local communities of the important role it plays in those areas and reassuring friends and families that people living in Bield services are being well cared for.
On top of that, the coverage also helps Bield to attract the brightest and best people in its sector – by showcasing its works and its services so that job hunters can see what a great organisation it is to work for.
