Bield tenant features on national TV news with help of Scottish Public relations agency
GREAT grandad George Mulveney ensured his landmark 100th birthday took centre stage, by appearing on BBC Breakfast.
The centenarian celebrated getting a telegram from the Queen by heading out to watch the panto in Glasgow – for the 60th year running. And he enjoyed an accordian music performance with his family.
He told interviewers on the BBC that he puts his long life down to healthy living and keeping active, including playing indoor bowls.
Part of the reason George manages to lead such a full and rewarding life is down to the care and support he receives from staff with specialist care and housing provider Bield, which operates the Carntyne Gardens development where he is a resident.
Bield use the PR services of Edinburgh public relations agency Holyrood PR – and our expert PR team helped set up the showpiece interview with BBC Breakfast.
Beeb bosses were running a week-long series exploring the changing attitudes to old age and what the growing number of pensioners means for society – with one in three of those born today likely to live to 100.
George said: “I am delighted to have reached 100 years of age and am really looking forward to all of the birthday celebrations which are in place. It will be a wonderful weekend surrounded by people who mean the world to me.”

The coverage on the national television channel comes as part of a long-standing PR campaign for Bield which has seen it receive coverage across all the major care titles and in national newspaper including the Sunday Post.
