Two Linlithgow Academy pupils are taking time out of their busy academic schedules to share their youthful energy with older people at a sheltered housing complex.

Kyle McLachlan and Ross Hunter featured in the Care Indsutry News for their volunteering work at West Port Resource Centre, run by Bield – Scotland’s leading housing and care organisation for older people.

Their work as ‘befrienders’ sees them assisting in social activities for its residents and is equipping them with valuable skills as both have inspirations to work within the health sector.

Carol Robertson, Manager at Bield’s West Port Resource Centre said: “We are delighted to have both Ross and Kyle onboard and they have proven themselves as responsible and dedicated volunteers over the past year.

“They are hugely popular with our care users and the boys have developed a great rapport with everyone at West Port Resource Centre which we hope can continue.”
