Fundraising effort a hit with media coverage thanks to Edinburgh PR agency
Edinburgh-based charity the Sick Kids Friends Foundation (SKFF) proved to be the pick of the press this week when the news hit the headlines about the fundraising efforts made by the family of Christopher Nelson, who sadly passed away in 2015.
In just three months Christopher’s Mother, Donna Nelson, with the help of family and friend has raised over £2,500 for the SKFF in memory of her son, who tragically died unexpectedly in Amsterdam at the end of last year.
Within just a few hours of issuing the news that the grief-stricken mum had started this appeal, the story featured online and in print on the Edinburgh Evening News. With an online readership of over the ten thousand mark and a potential print readership of 30,000 across Edinburgh, the Lothians and even further afield; this was hugely important coverage for the charity as this is the city in which it predominately works in.
Over the next few days the story continued to generate coverage, featuring notably on highly influential charity website Third Force News continuing to push the SKFF key messages in front of the target audience.
However the pick of the coverage was the features online on The Scotsman and BBC News. With a joint circulation of 4,000,000 this coverage ensured national awareness of the fantastic cause.
By making ripples across local and national press, as well as a variety of different news outlets reaching diverse sectors, our expert Edinburgh PR team ensured the wide sharing of the SKFF’s positive ethos – which aims to transform the experiences of children and young people in hospital so they can be a child first and a patient second.
SKFF distributes around £1.5m per year at RHSC and other children and young people’s community healthcare settings and Donna is hugely contributing to this.
