Former Telford College student Steven Brown has said that the nomination for this year’s D&AD Student Yellow Pencil Awards has helped him get his first job in the design industry.

Steven studied HND visual communication (graphic design) at Edinburgh’s Telford College, and he was nominated for his creative installation for Coutts private banking.

However, it isn’t the first time Steven, from Leith, has been honoured for his work as the 28 year old also won the top prize at the Marketing Society’s Star Awards.

He said: “Although I didn’t win, I see the nomination as a huge achievement in itself and this, alongside my Marketing Society Award, helped me get a foothold on the career ladder – landing me my first full-time job in the industry.”
