Forgan’s restaurant will shine next month in the ‘old cleeks’ factory, St Andrews Today reports.

Dating back to 1860s and reputed to be the oldest golf club factory in the world, the building will be soon the Forgan’s restaurant and it will boast features created by Glasgow’s Corinthian designer, Jim Hamilton.

Cleeks were the name given to number one irons and Forgan’s hopes to have one of the golf clubs in display.

Forgan’s will feature welcoming ‘bothies’- five private spaces, each with their own wood burning stove and will offer its food menu and drink menu inspired by products from local artisan suppliers and producers.

Michelle Nabal, general manager of Forgan’s, said: “There’s already a great buzz of excitement about Forgan’s and we are sure that it will go down a storm with locals, students and visitors alike.”
