MUSSELBURGH Racecourse’s chosen Queen of Style showed there’s more to her than glitz and glamour when she swapped her heels back to football boots after scoring the ultimate winner at Stobo Castle Ladies Day.
Football enthusiast Michelle Gardiner, who plays for Central Ladies first division in Falkirk, is known for flaunting her ball skills on the pitch, while off the pitch it’s all about her desirable style.
The renowned Queen of Style competition was judged by fashionistas Miss UK, Laura Russell of Satisfashion and STV’s Hayley Matthews who, after much deliberation, agreed that Michelle was the worthy winner to receive the brand new £10,000 car thanks to her original and on trend outfit.
Michelle attended the prestigious sell-out racing event after purchasing a last minute ticket and says she was shocked to have even been entered into the competition, let alone be crowned the winner, after choosing her chic outfit just days before.
Michelle said: “I still can’t believe I won. I’m a tomboy at heart who loves my football but when there’s an occasion to get dolled up I just can’t say no.
“After buying my ticket just before they completely sold out I knew I did have a lot of time sort my outfit so I’m delighted that I managed to pull it off.
“This was my first year attending Stobo Castle Ladies Day but it certainly won’t be my last. The pressure is now on for next year to see if I can retain my title.”
Laura Russell, fashion judge at Stobo Castle Ladies Day said: “We were all delighted to be able to choose Michelle as the winner. It was a tough decision as there were so many Stylish ladies on the stage but we all loved Michelle’s floral outfit. It really suited her look and brought out her gorgeous features so we all agreed that Michelle had to be our winner.
It was unbelievably rewarding to watch Michelle’s stunned reaction after her number was called out – a fabulous floral winner for Ladies Day 2016.
