Food firm’s commitment to future workforce cooks up a storm in the media thanks to Scottish PR agency

An internationally renowned ingredients producer hit the local headlines after our Scottish PR agency shared the news of its unique work placements and recent graduate hire.

From apprenticeship schemes to hands-on work experience to student bursaries, we shared Macphie Ltd’s many contributions to the future of the food and drink industry.

The stories achieved a host of widespread coverage in some of the firm’s top tier targets:

Through two separate stories, we were able to share highlights of the food firm’s initiatives in place for budding new chefs and bakers.

The first release focused on seven students from Mearns Academy and Mackie Academy who embarked on an apprenticeship at Macphie.

The pupils developed new dessert toppings for the brand’s popular sauce range, o.t.t.®, from initial idea through to pitching their products to a live panel. They were given the chance to explore different areas of the business gaining valuable practical experience within the industry.

Our team gathered quotes from Macphie, the apprentices and the head teachers of each school to ensure maximum coverage would be achieved. The quotes provided a wider perspective on the story, while creating a positive narrative.

With the coverage, we were able to portray Macphie as forward-thinking business which helps the younger generation to thrive in the working environment.

Macphie’s foundation apprenticeship scheme is just one way in which the brand is helping the future workforce of chefs and bakers – an objective that deserves the spotlight.

The second release focused on Dundee-local, Jamie McDonald, who secured a key new role at the food firm following a successful placement programme through Abertay University, with the manufacturer also providing a financial contribution towards his studies.

Macphie welcomed Jamie for a three-month summer placement and has since offered him a full-time role of Product Designer where he will work within the manufacturer’s New Product Development team to help perfect some of its popular recipes.

The 26-year-old chef-by-trade will work at Macphie to review fat, salt and sugar content across its product line, perfecting recipes, while ensuring its products maintain high-quality taste.

Our Scottish PR agency knew this would be a great local story so we worked to ensure that          Macphie’s dedication to the young workforce was clear throughout the release that was then issued to an array of publications.

With a key focus of showcasing support Macphie provides to students, we highlighted the opportunities and practical, hands-on experience the ingredient manufacturer can provide to the    future of the food and drink industry.

A key aim was to get the release in front of other local students who could benefit from the various school and university partnerships that Macphie prides itself on, and with coverage in Aberdeen Live and Aberdeen Business News, we managed to achieve just that.
