PERTHSHIRE BUSINESSES SET TO TAKE ‘TASTY PRIZES’ WITH HELP FROM PR EXPERTS IN EDINBURGH

Food and Drink PR storyThree Perthshire businesses are looking to win a place at the top table by scooping honours at this week’s Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards.

The trio – Simon Howie Foods, Charlotte Flower Chocolates and Scarlett’s Honey – will find out on Wednesday if they have secured one of the awards, which recognise and reward the very best in Scottish food and drink.

Perth Food and Drink Park – the first dedicated hub for Scotland’s diverse and world-renowned food and drink sector – will also find out who has won the Export Business of the Year category which they have sponsored.

Nationally and Internationally Recognised

Stuart Oliver, of Invest in Perth, Perth and Kinross’s global inward investment campaign who are marketing Perth Food and Drink Park, said having three locals business short-listed underlines the continued strength of the sector in the local economy.

He said: “The annual turnover of the food and drink sector within Perth and Kinross is estimated at £310m.

We can boast national and internationally recognised brands, alongside artisan and specialists producers.

We delighted to see three of our excellent local food and drink businesses recognised in the awards and we look forward to watching them hopefully pick up prizes.

It’s this rich heritage and sector expertise that we wish to develop and grow at the Perth Food and Drink Park.”

Attracting Inward Investment

Perth Food and Drink Park – representing a £5m investment by Perth and Kinross Council – provides up to 11 serviced development plots across a 16 acre high quality and easily accessible site at North Muirton, to the north of the city.

The site has been specifically designed to create a hub for the all aspects of the food and drink industry in Scotland to thrive, and is aimed at attracting inward investment, as well as expansion opportunities for existing and start-up businesses.
