First Call Home Assist is to partner with a local play area for children with additional support needs

Edinburgh’s home emergency firm is supporting The Yard at Eyre’s Place, which aims to improve the lives of children with learning disabilities as well as supporting family members and carers.

For every sale of First Call’s home emergency policy made through The Yard’s website, 15% of the monthly fee will go towards the firm’s community partnership scheme.

Celine Sinclair, Chief Executive of The Yard, said: “We are delighted to be part of First Call’s community partnership scheme. All the money we raise through this initiative will go towards improving the quality of service we can provide for the 1,500 young people who use our centre regularly.”

With Edinburgh Council supply just over 10% of The Yard’s funding, with the further 90% having to be sourced by the service itself.

Paul Greaves, managing director of First Call, explained why the company chose to support The Yard: “My niece was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at the age of six and she can be unpredictable, inflexible and anti-social.”

“The Yard is an amazing service which our family, and many others, rely upon heavily. It is the only place we can truly relax, free of anxieties and of judgement from others; somewhere we don’t have to defend or explain our child.”
