A FIFE firm is celebrating after being honoured in the prestigious UK Estate Agents of the Year Awards.

Hunters-psm, which is based in Bonnar Street, Dunfermline, won a Silver Award in the Best Estate Agent (with up to 25 offices) Category.

The law firm beat off tough competition from rival estate agents across Scotland to pick up the Scottish regional award.

To become a finalist in the awards, which were backed by the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) and the Daily Express, each nominated company had to undergo an analysis of their performance from their own clients.

This involved Hunters-psm conducting a “mystery shopper-type” survey to determine levels of customer service and satisfaction.  The companies coming up with the highest ratings of customer service scooped the top awards.

Michael Maloco, founding partner of The PSM Law Group of which Hunters-psm is one of its key divisions, said: “We chose to enter this year’s competition as not only is it an excellent way to gain recognition for our excellent team at Bonnar Street, but because the votes are based on our client’s views.

We don’t get to see the completed questionnaire sheets so it is very encouraging that the responses have been so favourable.

“We pride ourselves on giving excellent customer service and this has been reflected in the way our clients have rated our service.  We will continue to further improve and hope to win the Scottish gold title at next year’s awards.”

Joyce Allan, Property Director for Hunters-psm said the award was another major achievement for the Bonnar Street office, which has enjoyed considerable success as the property market in Fife continues to surge upwards.

In February, sales in the office topped £2 million – a 98 per cent increase on February 2003.

And the following month, it was announced that Hunters-psm (which has another base in Edinburgh) climbed for the first time into the top five of the ESPC (Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre) league table of the 265 best performing property firms in east central Scotland.

Ms Allan added: “There are two deciding factors which are responsible for our success – the technological advancements we use and our dedicated team of staff.  Without them, it would not have been possible to be where we are today.”

Glasgow firm G Murphy pipped Hunters-psm for the gold award which were announced at a ceremony in London on Friday, June 4.
