on behalf of Project Work and Other Clients
Digital specialist Gecko New Media has been named the first in Scotland to be certified by a world leader in website content management systems.
News of the appointment as a Certified Solution Provider came through late on Friday from Umbraco headquarters in Denmark – with a personal message of congratulations from its creator.
“We’re over the moon about becoming the first certified solution provider in Scotland” says Dave Malins – technical director at Gecko New Media ltd.
“We’ve been working with Umbraco for quite a while now, and are very active in the umbraco community. Becoming certified providers is a great feather in our cap, as it assures our clients they are in safe hands.
“After an extensive review of Microsoft CMS solutions on the market, we quickly came to the conclusion that Umbraco is the best CMS framework offering available. Its flexibility is unparalleled, it’s user interface is the friendliest on the market, and the open source license means that our clients don’t get lumbered with bloated license fees.
Digital agency experts
“The fact that we are the first in Scotland to achieve this makes it all the better and more than we could have hoped for.”
Co-Founder of Gecko New Media Mike Octigan added: “It doesn’t matter whether you are building sites for major Government departments or one-person businesses, this works for them and can serve any level of expertise
“It can be as sophisticated as it needs to be for the webmaster of a huge, complex site – or it can let a small business update their website by doing nothing more than creating a simple Word document.”
In a message from Denmark, Niels Hartvig, the founder of Umbraco wrote: “Hi Gecko – congratulations on beating another agency right on the finish line in becoming the first Scottish Solution Provider!”
A major public relations coup
Mike said the Gecko team were thrilled to get the personal message from a man who is considered a major player in the global digital development field.
He added: “We worked extremely hard for this and we really hope that we will now see benefits as discerning clients choose to work with agencies which can demonstrate their credentials.
Umbraco is the technology behind some 50,000 websites worldwide, including Vogue, Heinz and Peugeot and wired.com. Gecko has implemented Umbraco CMS for Clients such as Yell Adworks, David Boni and the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society Ltd.
The news caps a major month for Gecko New Media, coming just weeks after it announced an expansion to cope with a glut of new work. As well as taking on two new developers, the company promoted internally by appointing Dave Malins as Technical Director
Other highlights of the past 12 months included a move into elegant and airy new offices in the New Town’s upmarket Melville Street and July’s launch of a new website at http://www.geckonewmedia.com.
