Holyrood PR, PR in ScotlandA textiles graduate has walked straight from styling catwalk models at London Fashion Week to securing a top job in design at NKD Clothing.

Fiona Fraser graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art with a BA Honours in Design and Applied Art in Printed Textiles for Fashion, before moving to London to work with international fashion label Eley Kishimoto.

The 28-year-old print specialist, who worked for Eley Kishimoto at top events including London Fashion week, beat more than 70 hopefuls to join fast-growing corporate couture company, NKD Clothing, as Design Manager.

Despite the recession, NKD Clothing has continued to win a string of orders to provide stylish and bespoke uniforms to venues across the UK such as the exclusive 21212 restaurant in Edinburgh and Lanarkshire’s Lisini Pub Co, as well maintaining long-standing clients including Malmaison and Hotel du Vin.

The corporate clothing company continues to defy current economic conditions, refusing to compromise on quality and has embarked on an ambitious global sales push.

Fiona, who grew up in both Edinburgh and Perth, said: “I have always been a keen follower of fashion.

“When I was growing up my mum worked at Laura Ashley and I was fascinated by fabrics she brought home with her.

“I loved dressing up too and was always sneaking into my mum’s wardrobe to try on her glamorous dresses and high heel shoes, so it made sense for me to go on and study textiles.

“Working with a high profile company like Eley Kishimoto, who established its reputation through partnering design houses such as Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen before going on to produce their own collections, only added to my belief in quality, long-wearing clothing.

“So coming to work for NKD Clothing is really exciting for me. The outfits we design are so chic and fashionable. They not only make staff look and feel good, but they also project a positive corporate image for the company.”

Scottish PR Success For NKD Clothing

Fiona, who is also experienced in event management after working with top Edinburgh bar and restaurant Voodoo Rooms, thinks her fashion experience will be a great asset to NKD Clothing.

She added: “In London I spent weeks putting together fashion rails so that models went out on spec. Details such as shoes and accessories, to the overall styling of a garment all contribute to the final look.

“NKD Clothing occupies a real niche in their sector. They work with some really exciting clients, who apply the same fashion standards to their work wear as fashion houses apply to producing high-quality, stylish fashion garments.

“It will be my job at NKD Clothing to ensure we continue to produce comfortable, cutting edge corporate clothing, that will rival top fashion houses in terms of quality and style.”

Public Relations Edinburgh Help to Build an Excellent Reputation

Gill Eastgate, managing director of NKD Clothing, believes the time was right to bring in someone of Fiona’s experience.

She said: “Fiona was so passionate about fashion and high-quality clothing – it was evident that she was excited to work with us.

Her strong design background will benefit NKD Clothing as we continue to try to offer our clients fresh innovative concepts and designs.

“Fiona has also been tasked with sourcing new suppliers and products so NKD Clothing can maintain its strong creative edge over other staff uniform suppliers.

“We are busier than ever in the UK and by appointing Fiona we will stay ahead of the game when it comes to producing quality clothing, helping us to retain our position as the leading corporate wear and uniform supplier in Scotland.”
