Photographer turned barber gets media clippings
A professional press photographer made the switch to barbering when lockdown made him rethink his career. Our Scottish PR agency were on hand to tell his story.
Aberdonian Richard Frew spent more than 10 years as a photographer before rethinking his career pathway. Having worked for the likes of the BBC, WWF and the Daily Record as a photographer, Richard was longing to learn a new skill where he could be creative and work closely with people.
Sovereign Grooming’s Kyle Ross, one of Scotland’s leading barbers, offered to train Richard up in a bid to help him pass his barbering qualifications. The career move paid off and now Richard works as a barber at Sovereign Grooming’s classy Aberdeen salon.
Our Scottish PR agency talked to Richard one-on-one and got down to the nitty gritty so we could draft a media release that accurately told Richard’s story.
We issued the story to press, tailoring pitches across various news publications and conducting phone calls with journalists to further sell the story.
The results were cutting edge:
- 10 items of coverage
- 302,830 opportunities to see
- Featured in the Press and Journal, Aberdeen Live and Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce
- Covered in print, online and social media
By getting this local story into Aberdeen’s top news titles, we were able to place Sovereign Grooming as the top barbers they are.
It was a brilliant opportunity to tell another exciting tale about Sovereign Grooming and the people who make it one of Scotland’s leading salons.
