A group of English online poker players are set to compete against rival gamers from Germany in a climactic showdown event this weekend.

Four players from across England have been lined up by Littlewoods Poker to participate in the Beautiful Poker Game final, where they will compete against three of Germany’s poker players for a £2500 grand prize.

The event is the culmination of a month-long online competition held at LittlewoodsPoker.com, which was set up to coincide with the recent Euro 2008 football championships.

Every player on the popular site was invited to compete for My Poker Points – Littlewoods Poker’s system of rewards for winning online poker games – with the final table in London made up of the highest-earning players from throughout the month of June.

The final event is scheduled to take place at The Victoria Grosvenor Casino London on Saturday August 9, and organisers admit that it will be a highly charged England vs Germany competition.
