Engagement Key for Housebuilder’s Proposal

Cala Land & Planning Press releases

Cala HolmesCALA Homes has revealed it intends to seek planning permission, on land identified for housing in East Lothian Council’s emerging Local Development Plan at Dirleton.

The firm has served notice with the Council for the Castlemains Farm site, which is on the southern edge of the conservation village.

The new development would deliver a variety of high quality family homes, appropriate to the location, along with a number of affordable homes as well as amenity open space.

The Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) outlining CALA Homes’ intentions for the site has been shared with the Dirleton Village Association and Gullane Area Community Council.

CALA has committed to present their indicative proposals to both groups at meetings on February 18 and 25 respectively, welcoming feedback in ensuring that the development takes account of those views expressed by local residents.
Derek Lawson, Strategic Land Director with CALA Homes (East), said: “This is just the start of the planning process and we are keen to engage with local people from the outset

“This is a real opportunity to view and comment on our emerging proposals, and help shape the eventual planning application.

“With the inclusion of the site in East Lothian’s Local Development Plan for approximately 30 new homes, we are optimistic that our proposals for high-quality homes will be well received.

“Likewise we’re hopeful that we can move forward carefully to submitting a full planning application, in line with the Local Development Plan, in due course.”

A public consultation event will be held in March, allowing local people to see draft proposals and to provide their feedback and suggestions for the development. CALA Homes is still finalising the arrangements and will publicise the details as soon as these are known.
