The latest quarterly report from the ESPC, which shows how property prices are rising across the Lothians, has been welcomed by a group of Edinburgh’s leading solicitor estate agents.
Responsing to the ESPC’s report Steve Spence, senior partner at Neilsons and a member of the Edinburgh and Lothians Property Group (ELPG), said:
“There is a lot of very promising news at the moment about the property market. Many major lenders are reporting rising house prices across the UK, while these latest figures from the ESPC show that there have been notable increases in both home values and sales volumes in Edinburgh.
“Of course, there is still some way to go before we return to the peak figures from 2007. Mortgage providers also need to relax their lending criteria before we can see a full return of first-time buyers to the market, which in turn will help stimulate even more activity up the property chain.
“However, it’s clear that things are continuing to get better in the local property market and confidence has greatly improved for those buying or selling properties in Edinburgh and the Lothians.”
