It isn’t just new clothes that Primark will be delivering this Christmas as the Edinburgh store brings hundreds of jobs to the city.

Over 4,000 hopeful applicants applied for positions at the new Scottish flagship store which will open its door on the 10th of December-in time for the Christmas rush.

The Princes Street store will employ 557 staff but the retailer revealed that already eight people were competing for every job.

The arrival of the Primark Princes Street store is being warmly welcomed by the City of Edinburgh Council, which highlighted the significant economic and employment benefits that the company will bring to the city in December.

Councillor Tom Buchanan, Convenor of the Council’s Economic Development committee, said: “The new Primark store is an exciting flagship development for the city which is eagerly anticipated by many shoppers in the area.”
