Food and Drink PR experts share Edinburgh bar’s Polynesian themed model night
Edinburgh’s most glamorous nightspot Opal Lounge is upping its credentials as the place to see and be seen in the city by hosting its first modelling competition.
Coco Island, ran by external promoters Peri Peri Events every Thursday, is on the hunt for ‘Coco’s Next Top Model’ with celebrity judge, Britain’s Next Top Model star Martha Braddell.
And the winners will win a professional photo shoot and a model portfolio, as well as the title of Coco’s Top Model.
Fraser Heeps, General Manager at the city’s original VIP club, said: “We are expecting a very good turnout for this competition.
“Our Coco Island regulars are a glamorous bunch, with plenty eligible to win a title like this.
“It is set to be a great night. The Polynesian-themed Coco Island event is always good fun and the competition will certainly spice it up.”
The club, which is a playground for the rich and famous north of the border, has attracted celebrity fans such as the country’s top supermodel Kate Moss. Entrants will have to impress the judges to prove they have what it takes to step into their idol’s shoes on the dance floor she partied on earlier this year.
A photographer will be present on the night taking pictures of the potential winners around the club and a decision will be made by the end of the night.
The venue will be transformed into an exotic playground for its clientele – hula skirts and palm trees included. Cocktails such as a Coco Rum Punch will be on offer, served in a giant tiki shell.
Organiser Viktor Awuse is confident that there is plenty of talent to impress Martha and her fellow judges at Coco Island.
He said: “Opal Lounge was the obvious venue to host an evening to find Edinburgh’s beautiful potential models.
“It will be an eventful night and you never know we might find the next Kate Moss on the very dance floor she was dancing on a few months ago.”
