Christmas has come early this year for shoppers as barging store Primark sets opening date.

The eagerly anticipated store is due to open its doors to the public on December 10th 2011, in a huge flagship store that will cover five floors. The store is the biggest in Scotland and is though it will provide 450 jobs to people in the Capital.

With fears of the opening date being pushed back managing director of Edinburgh City Council Graham Birse is pleased with the excitement that is building ahead of the new store. “It will be good for the city centre as it will act as a magnet – the city centre needs at a time like this. “

After one of the biggest construction jobs on Princes Street for a generation, the huge store will be providing a vital pedestrian walkway between Princes Street to the shop’s on Rose Street. The store also has new views of the Edinburgh Castle that shoppers can admire while they shop.

A spokesperson from Primark said: “We wanted to ensure that the store was up and running in time for the festive season. With five floors of retail space we will be able to stock a fabulous, extensive range of Primark clothing for men, women, children and home wear.”

With a large demand for a store in the capital the spokesperson continues, “We have planned to open a flagship outlet in the city for many years, so we’re delighted to have finally made this vision a reality. “

Located right in the heart of Princes Street the building has been carefully created as not to upset the historic nature of its location and is keeping with the Victorian and Georgian facades on either side.

Primark are also due to open a store in Livingston this Christmas and have plans to open one at the Gyle shopping centre.
