It seems that cooking talent runs in the blood at the Holyrood Partnerhsip as director Raymond Notarangelo’s daughter has hit the headlines after her performance at a junior ‘master chef’ style competition.

Raymond is known in the office for his gourmet cooking skills and his culinary creations at lunch time blow our Tesco sandwiches and microwavable paella’s out of the water. Now his 14-year-old daughter Rachel has cooked up a storm to win herself a place in the final of ‘Future Chef 2011’ a competition for budding junior chefs to display their creative food talents.

Rachel’s performance which saw her beat off 10 other competitors from schools across Scotland has been highlighted in this weekend’s Edinburgh Evening News, not only taking the lead article in the ‘Week-en-der’ supplement but also featuring in a front page puff.

The article highlights how Rachel was a clear winner in the competition and she will now go on to represent Scotland in the Future Chef 2011 final which will be held in London on March 21.

Rachel impressed the judges with her winning menu of crusted halibut on a bed of tagliatelle vegetables and a cold berry crumble, which is a far cry from the usual culinary skills of most teenagers.

Rachel quotes in the article: “My nana is Italian and she’s a really good cook and so is my dad. I think I take after them. My two brothers cook and we’ve lots of recipe books at home.

“I think most people my age probably like cooking. Since I’ve been in this a few of my friends have been suggesting things I could make. We’ve all been talking about food.”

She will now go to the final and cook against 11 other finalists from across the UK for the ultimate title of Future Chef 2011 and we wish her the best of luck. If what she is cooking is going to be as good as the samples we’ve been getting to date then we’d say she will most definitely has a shot of winning!
