Cyber Crime Awareness for Fresher Students

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012 Warning Unleashes Headlines thanks to  PR in Scotland.

First year students were at the centre of a online safety campaign this week which caught the attention of the Evening Times.

Freshers’ Week is usually kicked off in style as students receive their first loan or bursary payments making them particularly vulnerable to online criminals looking to dupe victims with identity theft and online scams.

e-Crime Scotland with the support of Get Safe Online and Student Loans Company is raising awareness of how students can protect themselves.

Gary Ritchie, of the Scottish Business Crime Centre, said that by taking a few simple steps students could protect themselves against the heartache and often serious consequences caused by cyber crime.
