TIGERLILY, a new destination for stylish hotel living, dining and partying in Edinburgh opened on June 29 – the coolest creation yet from Scotland’s leading style bar/restaurant group Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd.

Tigerlily is set in an impressive city centre location and is designed to rival the best boutique hotels in the world.

Montpeliers is the group behind some of Edinburgh’s best bars – such as Opal Lounge which can boast visits from superstars Justin Timberlake and Pink as well as Princes William and Harry – and its latest ventures are always keenly anticipated.

Located over five-floors in a restored Grade A Listed townhouse in Edinburgh’s historic George Street, Tigerlily sees understated Georgian opulence blend with contemporary cool to create a stunning one-off venue with an undeniable wow factor.

Thirty-three individually styled bedrooms – including sumptuous Georgian suites – provide the ultimate in comfort and style.

But Tigerlily is more than just a hip boutique hotel, as anyone visiting its two chic bars, 200 cover restaurant and glamorous subterranean club Lulu  (due to open in September) will discover.

A design team – lead by acclaimed interior designers Graven Images – spent 18 months researching ideas, fabrics and finishes from around the world to conceive the entire look and feel of Tigerlily, from the toiletries in the bedrooms to the creation of a specially commissioned mirror mosaic which fills an entire wall of the Georgian Bar.

Such was the attention to detail that before the Italian designer crockery was chosen, each dish was photographed on several designs to ensure they complemented one another perfectly.

David Wither (pictured below), Managing Director, Montpeliers (Edinburgh), said: “Tigerlily is a landmark development, not just for Montpeliers group, but for Edinburgh as a whole. It’s brought back to life a prime city centre site and provides a new benchmark in high quality accommodation, drinking and dining.

“Tigerlily stands out from the crowd. Original Georgian features, including high ceilings, oak panelling and ornate cornicing, have been carefully blended with a contemporary design to create a lavish yet laid-back setting.

“Tigerlily is glamorous, and even a bit theatrical, but most of all it’s accessible and fun. The whole place has been designed so you want to wander round exploring new areas – with each area having a different appeal to all tastes”.

On arrival, guests find the elegant Georgian bar – complete with bespoke ‘cloud’ lighting, the only one of its kind in the UK and the largest in the world – which links into a formal drawing room, before leading into the main bar and restaurant area.

The spacious ground floor offers a variety of interchangeable dining and drinking spaces. Customers can choose from the Bedouin-style day beds to sumptuous circular booths enclosed in a shimmering metal curtain, spaces that will appeal to all from an intimate supper to a full-on nightout with friends. The food and drink menu features fresh contemporary flavours, old favourites, novel twists such as dessert platters to share and even a modern slant on afternoon tea.

Tigerlily’s two exquisite Georgian suites, seven mini suites and 24 unique bedrooms  builds on the success of Rick’s, Montpeliers’ first boutique hotel project in Edinburgh’s Frederick Street which was named by Conde Naste Traveller as one of the “25 Hottest Hotels in the World”.  Each bedroom is individually styled in an explosion of colour, fabrics and textures. The suites retain original Georgian features to compliment the bespoke furniture and the four-poster beds, fused with modern additions such as plasma screens, video spas, iPods and sleek bathrooms.

David Wither said: “This has been our most challenging project since opening Montpeliers of Bruntsfield 14 years ago. We wanted to bring something fresh and new to Edinburgh’s vibrant social scene and to set ourselves apart from the rest of the crowd. I believe we’ve achieved this with Tigerlily.  Nowhere else can you find the opulence of Georgian heritage blended with a cool yet comfortable contemporary style.”

The former derelict Standard Life office has been brought back to life by a team of architects and designers over a 12-month construction phase. Up to 200 jobs have been created, across all areas of the project.

Room rates for Tigerlily range from £175 per night with suites from £245 -£295 per night. For further information or reservations call 0131 225 5005 or click on www.tigerlilyedinburgh.co.uk
