NEW SENIOR APPOINTMENT EXPECTED TO IMPROVE COMPANY PROFILE WITH HELP FROM EDINBURGH PR AGENCY

Appointment of Bob BaxterNetwork and internet provider, Commsworld, has underlined its’ ambitious growth plans in the North East of Scotland with the appointment of Bob Baxter as Senior Sales Executive.

Bob brings 22 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with a proven track record of delivering results having previously worked in senior business development roles at Schlumberger Information Solutions, Harris Caprock and Vodafone.

Commsworld CEO, Ricky Nicol, believes the appointment of someone with such a strong CV is a fantastic endorsement of the proposition and reputation that Commsworld have built in recent years as it continues to battle and win accounts from giant household names such as BT and Vodafone.

Bob, 59, joins from CGI where he was tasked with bringing in completely new accounts within Oil and Gas upstream (petroleum industry).

He said: “I was attracted by the huge appetite for growth and the self-belief that is apparent at Commsworld, its’ compelling story and the personalities of the team behind it.

I grew up with IT & Telecoms in the Oil & Gas sector and my experience working for the big firms like T-Mobile and Vodafone makes me appreciate the flexibility and personal approach provided by Commsworld, which is something that more and more businesses are looking for in a network provider.”

A Fantastic Position

The firm already offers network provision in Aberdeen where specialist engineers have installed market-leading equipment in key points of presence around the city – a process known as “unbundling exchanges” which allows Commsworld to offer local businesses its various products and services.

Bob added: “The opportunity to be part of the team that establishes the business here is very appealing, and following some hugely positive work in the North East, Commsworld is now in a fantastic position.

More expansion through the unbundling work is planned for this year and with the introduction of the CityFibre ultra-fast network, which aims to turn Aberdeen into a Gigabit city boasting ultra-fast internet connectivity, there is huge potential in this market.”

Strong Interest

Commsworld has a history of innovative collaborations with Aberdeen based firms, notably working with Veripos to enable real time data for its highly accurate positioning software, improving performance and resilience in the process.

The Telecommunications Network Provider has seen strong interest from some large Aberdeen based businesses in recent years, working on several innovative projects with Bright Solid, Stewart Milne and Sub Sea 7 amongst others.

Bob continued: “Ricky and his team have built an admirable business, which refused to be stifled by the recession and is now on a strong upward curve. I believe they are now in a great position to take that to the next level and it’s exciting to be a part of.

Many North East firms are currently suffering from budget constraints, but Commsworld can help to relieve this through cost savings and reduced downtime.

I hope I can introduce these types of benefits to new key accounts in the Oil and Gas sector, but I will also be keen to help businesses in other sectors improve their connectivity, productivity and services.”

Opportunity

In 2014 Commsworld celebrated turning 20 by expanding its network services across Scotland and generating record revenues surpassing the £9 million turnover from the previous year.

Following a strong first quarter and the announcement of a partnership with leading network infrastructure provider CityFibre on its Edinburgh Gigabit City project, the firm is hoping to grow to £13million in revenue this year.

Ricky Nicol is delighted to have Bob on board and feels they now have the opportunity to develop the amount of new business in the North East, which will reflect the impressive growth in the central belt in recent years.

He said: “We’re thrilled Bob has joined as our Senior Sales Executive as he brings a wealth of business experience that we will benefit from a great deal.

His background servicing the Oil and Gas industry has allowed him to build a network of highly influential business people in some of the largest and most notable firms in the industry.”

Commsworld, founded in 1994, is Scotland’s leading Telecommunications Network Provider, providing customers with a full range of integrated communications solutions.
