A call for innovative designs to help those living with disabilities is the pick of the press thanks to Housing and Care PR experts
THE ANNUAL search for the brightest and best new innovations to assist those living with disabilities was launched by a leading housing and care specialist and attracted widespread media attention thanks to Care PR experts, Holyrood PR.
The Blackwood Design Awards, which have previously produced entries such as a spoon which helps people with shaky hands to eat more easily and a wheelchair that allows users to control its direction with their eyes, seeks to uncover new designs and technologies that allow people with disabilities to live their lives to the full.
The Awards are open to both seasoned professionals and gifted amateurs, meaning that both technologically advanced and those simpler, yet often most successful designs, are equally welcome.
We shared the story with the press and gained impressive online media coverage, reaching a total of 4,159 people.
Some of the highlights included:
- Online coverage in industry-targeted publications, PosAbility Magazine, TradePoint Magazine and All Together Now! Magazine
- Scottish coverage on the Scottish Housing News website and The Highland Times website
- Online coverage on AT Today website, a publication solely focused on Assistive Technologies
By obtaining media coverage across a range of publications, the story reaches its full potential in showing Blackwood as a leader in innovative design and adaptation for people who may be living with disabilities or impairments.
Blackwood Housing and Care is a charity based in Edinburgh with more than 1500 homes throughout the country. It works in 29 of Scotland’s 32 local authorities, making it more widely dispersed than any other care or housing provider. Blackwood is renowned for constantly pushing boundaries of technology to allow adaptations to property which make a huge difference to those living with disabilities.
