Care Home in south Ayrshire adopts a new ice breaker game to help residents with dementia in care PR story

Mansfield Conversation Ball | Care PR

The CONVERSATION ball, a memory game introduced by staff at Mansfield Care’s Belhaven House care home in Troon, South Ayrshire, has received mounting coverage across Scotland.

Our Care PR team created this opportunity by connecting with the home manager, turning a fleeting mention of conversation balls into a fully blown press release achieving national, local, and specialist coverage.

Highlights of the coverage include:

  • Reached 73,301 people across Scotland
  • Featured in over 14 online, print and social media channels
  • Published in National, Local, and Specialist publications
  • Prominent print features in both Ayr Advertiser and Ayrshire Post
  • Successful coverage on social media with an outreach of 25,385 people

The conversation ball is a game that seeks to stimulate cognitive behaviour in Mansfield residents who suffer from dementia.

With questions and events attached to the ball, the game seeks to spark a memory or share a fond experience allowing residents to gain a sense of comfort, stimulate their memory and remain active.

The coverage achieved by our Care PR team created a strong bond and newfound relationship between Mansfield and Holyrood PR, opening up mutually beneficial opportunities.

After receiving the wide range of coverage, the Belhaven House care manager expressed her delight that an array of positive press coverage came from a simple phone call.

Specialising in small, friendly residential care homes in Edinburgh, Borders and the west of Scotland, Mansfield Care caters to their residents to maintain a supportive, homely, and positive environment.

The conversation ball has proved to be a very unique activity to create a friendly and empathetic home allowing both staff and residents to connect and understand one another, building long-term relationships.

Our Care PR team is ready to help your brand tell your story, and gain the coverage it deserves.
