Care Home Hosts Double Wedding Anniversary Celebration

Bupa Care Services Press releases

Bupa Edinburgh PR Client Double WeddingMemories of white dresses and wedding bells rang through a Glasgow care home this week as two couples celebrated their 55th wedding anniversaries.

Josie Paton and Jessie Crichton, both from Bupa’s Eastbank Care Home in Shettleston in Glasgow, marked their special emerald anniversaries with their husbands Alex Crichton and Tommy Paton.

Family and friends of both couples celebrated the occasion with Bupa staff on hand to congratulate the loved-up couples and make the day one to remember.

Josie, who lives in wassell house, received a surprise party from her husband, Tommy and the team in the home. Staff and family members hired an entertainer and organised to beautifully decorate the living room with rose petals and candles.

Jessie, who lives in goudie house, celebrated her 55th Anniversary alongside her husband, Alex Chricton who spent quality time together chatting and relaxing in the home.

Alex Chricton said:

It was lovely being able to celebrate our wedding anniversary and share the special occasion with my wife at the care home.

Jessie’s health isn’t too great just now but the lengths staff went to in helping us spend our day together was extremely touching.

No request was too much and all the staff were extremely helpful. Small touches such as being able to spend time with Jessie where she is in a safe environment really does make things easier and I know we will both speak fondly of this day for a long time.”

Josie’s daughter, Annette Lavery, joined the celebrations for her parent’s emerald anniversary and praised staff for the efforts behind the celebration. She said:

It was fantastic to see such a smile on mum’s face; she well and truly deserved to have an incredible day and that’s exactly what it was. It was even more special to hear the Crichtons were celebrating the same milestone also.

Bupa Edinburgh PR Scotland ClientI visit my mum about three to four times a week and the staff members are always so helpful. They definitely went out of their way to make sure the party was a success.

Some people have preconceptions about care homes but East Bank went above and beyond to make sure my parents had a fantastic party. They always do a stellar job of looking after my mum and I’m so grateful for their consistent support.”

Stephen Hagan, care home manager at Bupa’s Eastbank Care Home, helped plan the surprise party and arrange for Jessie to celebrate her anniversary while receiving the specialist care she requires. He said:

I could not be more pleased for our residents and their families, celebrating such a landmark occasion. It’s such a fantastic moment for the residents and we were delighted to be part of their day.

Celebrations were in full swing with family, friends and cake, all making a welcome appearance on the special day. [It was a shame that Jessie couldn’t not come through to the main party but her husband and staff were able to make her day just as special while ensuring she was relaxed and safe.

We all look forward to celebrating their 56th anniversary and beyond in the coming years.”
