27 AUG Cyclosportive 01 (1)Thrill-seeking cyclists have still time to enter Scotland’s charity cycling event of the year – the Oban Sportive.

The endurance challenge, sponsored by land and property agents Bell Ingram, gives competitors the chance to cycle through some of the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer.

Riders can tackle a choice of two courses, both starting from Oban on Sunday 29  September – the 52 mile Loch Avich route or the 84 mile Kilmartin route, with both set to challenge cyclists to a thrill seeking weave of road climbing, steep descents, winding roads and breathtaking vistas.

Joanne Stennett, PR Manager at Bell Ingram, who have an impressive record of supporting charities and communities in their network of Scottish offices, said the event is not to be missed by cyclists who like a challenge.

She said: “As the event edges ever closer, we at Bell Ingram are looking forward to Oban experiencing its first sporting event of this scale.

“We hope that the Oban Sportive will attract cyclists from both far and wide to come and enjoy the spectacular scenery that Argyll has to offer, the tough challenge of the courses – and of course the warm hospitality of the Oban community.

“The good news is that there is still time for people to submit entries – and to know that they will be helping a range of charities.”

The event is a collaborative project between North Argyll Cycle Club and Oban Rotary Club and all proceeds will go to local good causes.

The Oban Sportive is dedicated to Sportive organising committee member, Chris Bell who was tragically killed at the age of 24 in an avalanche at Glencoe earlier in the year. His vision was to make the Sportive a top quality event offering courses tough enough to give even the strongest riders a real test while not excluding anyone through excessive mileages.

Centred largely around Route 78 of the National Cycle Network, both routes make use of single track roads, allowing riders to enjoy a largely traffic free cycle and soak up uninterrupted views of the sea, lochs and highland glens.

Entries have been arriving thick and fast with organisers hoping for a large turnout of around 200   cyclists.  People wishing to take part in the event should visit the Oban Sportive official website before signing up online.

More information can also be found by liking the Facebook page  and following Oban Sportive on twitter. The Oban Sportive organising committee would like to thank their lead sponsors Bell Ingram, Bid4Oban and MacQuen Bros for their continued support.

Established in 1899, Bell Ingram is a multi-disciplined firm of chartered surveyors, forestry managers, estate agents, architects, building surveyors and energy specialists. With more than 130 professional staff across 11 UK offices the firm provides local knowledge with national coverage.
