CALA Homes (East) gives buyers extra confidence in purchasing an apartment at Henderson House
A QUALITY homebuilder is offering buyers peace of mind following the refurbishment of a former famous hotel in Gullane.
Buyers looking to purchase an apartment at CALA Homes (East)’s Henderson House will be protected for the next 10 years with the highest level of warranty cover from the National House Building Council (NHBC) – a level of cover that is rarely awarded to refurbished homes.
As well as covering the renovated apartments within the former Marine Hotel, the new-build homes on the wider Marine Rise site also come with a 10-year warranty.
Campbell Te Rito, Site Manager at Marine Rise, said: “The team at Henderson House have worked extremely hard since we began on site.
“We have an NHBC inspector visit every 15 days and at all key build stages to make sure that we comply with standards and have addressed their guidelines throughout the process.
“When we first started refurbishing Henderson House, we were faced with a number of challenges which is common when working with an existing building. It wasn’t until we stripped back the walls that we knew exactly what we were working with.
“One of the biggest changes we have made to the structure is getting rid of the more recent extensions made by the fire college and so restoring the building back to how it looked 100 years ago.
“This type of work does take time, but the end result is spacious, new-build apartments set within one of the most iconic buildings in East Lothian.”
First built in 1899, the building was originally a seaside hotel for visitors to Gullane, before acting as the headquarters for the Polish army during the Second World War. More recently, it was the main training centre for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Henderson House was officially launched last September by George Hope of Luffness, the great-grandson of Henry Hope of Luffness who first commissioned the creation of the building as The Marine Hotel.
Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director at CALA Homes (East), said: “It is quite an unusual thing for a refurbished building to be built to NHBC’s 10-year warranty specifications – especially one as historic and distinct as Henderson House.
“This does say a lot about the level of care taken by our team on the ground, making sure the design, craftsmanship and materials are of the highest level.
“At CALA, we aim to make moving into a new home as stress-free as possible, and buyers can be safe in the knowledge that their new home is fully covered for the next decade.”
Situated in the seaside town of Gullane, Henderson House comprises 21 bespoke refurbished apartments, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to three-bedroom duplex properties, all individually designed.
Known for its award-winning beaches and world-famous Championship golf courses along the ‘Golf Coast Road’, the area is the ideal location for those seeking a slower pace of life while being in commuting distance of the hustle and bustle of the capital.
Prices for Henderson House apartments at Marine Rise currently range from £295,000 – £595,000, and all apartments are available to view daily.
