on behalf of CALA Homes
GREEN fingered pupils at North Berwick Nursery School have been given a helping hand from CALA Homes (East), when the houmbuilder provided a donation of gardening equipment and accessories in support of National Gardening Week (10th-16th April).
As well as gardening tools including spades, trowels, rakes, watering cans and gloves, the nursery also received an insect sculpture hotel and seeds to encourage wildlife into the nursery gardens.
John Dagger, Deputy Headteacher at North Berwick Nursery School and Law Primary School, said: “We’re thrilled with this kind donation from CALA Homes which is a great way to get the children more involved in gardening.
“Children can learn new skills, have fun and develop self-confidence by spending time in the garden which is something we actively encourage.
“This new equipment will help get the children engaged with the nursery gardens as well as create a more attractive environment for everyone to enjoy.”
Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director for CALA Homes (East) said: “Creating beautiful places to live is at the heart of what we do and gardens can play an important role in our sense of wellbeing.
“National Gardening Week is all about encouraging new gardeners so we thought it would be a great opportunity to help younger generations to get involved and develop a passion for gardening.
“We’re delighted to be able to support North Berwick Nursery School and hope the children thoroughly enjoy using the new equipment and benefit from the gardening activities.”
National Gardening Week was launched six years ago by the Royal Horticultural Society and since then has grown into the country’s biggest celebration of gardening. This year’s theme focuses on inspiring new gardeners to get involved in growing plants and flowers – an activity that is hugely beneficial for children in terms of learning and development and one that CALA was keen to support within the local schools surrounding its sites.
CALA Homes (East’s) Law Gardens development offers a beautiful selection of four and five bedroom detached homes, with three bedroom homes due in later releases, all of which have been designed with flexible living in mind, maximising on light, space and storage.
