CALA Homes Helps Deck the Halls in Balerno

Cala Homes Press releases

Balerno Community Council Edinburgh PRTHE VILLAGE of Balerno is now lit up in sparkling Christmas lights to welcome in the festive season thanks to a generous donation from an upmarket home builder.

Last year, Balerno Community Council, along with Balerno Village Trust, secured festive decorations by crowdfunding and through donations from local organisations and businesses to go towards lighting the town with Yuletide cheer.

Building on last year’s success, the council were keen to use the leftover money to fill the village with even more Christmas decorations, however were short of the funds to make this dream a truly festive reality.

To help fulfil the vision of seeing Balerno’s main street lit up with glowing Christmas trees and lights, CALA Homes (East) stepped in to donate the shortfall of £915 that has secured an arch of light as well as a number of trees to line the picturesque main street.

Richard Henderson, Chair of the Balerno Community Council, said: “We are so grateful that CALA have reached out to help us with this year’s festive celebrations.

“While we had leftover money from last year’s celebrations, we really wanted to do something special for the whole community and this donation from CALA has allowed us to do that by providing us with even more lights along with a Christmas tree in Main Street.”

”The donation has been really appreciated by everyone here in Balerno.”

The lights in the village were turned on at a special ceremony on the 7 December where pupils from Dean Park Primary performed Christmas carols and local businesses stayed open late selling festive treats.

The 8th Balerno Christmas Tree Festival will also take place on the weekend of the 9th of December alongside the village’s traditional farmers market, and the Broxburn and Livingston Brass Band will also be playing their now traditional Concert for Christmas on the evening of Saturday 9th in Balerno Parish Church.

Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director at CALA Homes (East), said: “It is thrilling to be able to help spread the festive cheer in Balerno, via the great work of Richard and the Balerno Community Council.

“We aim to provide long term, tangible benefits in all of the communities local to our developments, so following the launch of our Ravelrig Heights and Kingfisher Park developments it was only right that we were able to respond to help this good cause.

“We are looking forward to the ceremony when the lights are switched on and we can see all of the hard work pay off through their amazing decorations.”

Ravelrig Heights will be made up of spacious four and five bedroom family homes, boasting exciting new layouts designed around attractive greens, feature gardens and quiet lanes.

Kingfisher Park is a development of family homes and apartments, located on a mature landscaped environment with panoramic views of the south east making it the perfect spot for those looking to enjoy a quieter life.

The first phase of homes consists of spacious, detached 4 and 5 bedroom homes, including the Elliot, which features a stunning galleried landing and an ideal open plan family room and kitchen.
