Bupa’s Darnley Court Care Home, on Nitshill Road, has been shortlisted for an impressive total of two plaudits and is now in the running for the Nurse of the Year and Specialist Service/Unit Award categories.

Nurse Martin Masterson has scooped the coveted nomination for the Nurse of the Year title to recognise and reward his daily dedication to the home’s residents and the endless support and assurance he brings to their lives.

Rachel Ainsworth, Home Manager at Bupa’s Darnley Court Care Home, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Martin has been nominated. He’s a pleasure to work and very passionate in his efforts to create an environment at the home where the residents feel safe and well looked after.

“He has a wonderful relationship with everyone here and, although he says the nomination has come as a surprise to him, we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of the award.

“We all have our fingers crossed for the big night – but, either way, Martin is a star in our eyes.”

Carmichael House, the Interim Unit at Darnley Court, is also contending in the Specialist Service/Unit Award category.

Rachel added: “Carmichael House’s recognition in this category is a fantastic achievement and is once again down to all the efforts of the committed staff who work there.

“The satisfaction we all gain from working at the home and the extremely positive feedback from the residents is all the thanks we need but to have been nominated for not one but two Scottish Care Awards is a real honour.”
