A specialist adult care home in Stirling has been awarded ‘very good’ grades by the Care Inspectorate, Scotland’s independent care scrutiny and improvement body.
Broom Court, operated by leading care and housing provider Blackwood, scored highly rated marks of five across the board for all themes investigated by the Care Inspectorate during an unannounced inspection.
Inspectors had visited Broom Court to assess the service for its standards of quality of care and support, staffing and the environment.
The Care Inspectorate report outlined that staff members were motivated, respectful, professional and well-trained.
The report also praised support plans for residents as they were detailed and person centred, including details of individuals’ skills and areas where they might need help from service staff.
The report concluded: “The support provided to people at Broom Court was very good. People were happy with the service they received and felt they were listened to. This supported a culture of improvement based on the feedback the service received.”

Aileen McIntosh, a resident at Broom Court, said: “I’m really pleased with the service I’m provided with here. If you’re required to live somewhere like this, I would say that Broom Court is one of the best places.
“Everyone is so professional and caring. I am treated with dignity and respect at all times”

Broom Court accommodates up to 17 people with physical or sensory impairments. The service accommodates 14 residents on a permanent basis, while three places are assigned for respite care. Staff members also provide person-centred care and support to individual residents in a comfortable, homely environment.
