Tigerlily, one of the world’s top coolest hotels, scoops awards as gifts for its first birthday

The venue – named one of the world’s top coolest hotels by Conde Nast – has enjoyed consistent award success and rave reviews since its launch in June 2006, and has fast established itself as the must-do Edinburgh hotspot for visitors and locals alike.

In the space of a couple of weeks, Tigerlily’s stunning design, which fuses traditional Georgian features with an extravaganza of contemporary design, has earned it the Scottish Award for Excellence in  Interior Design, and the Theme Bar & Restaurant Awards for Best UK Design and Best Late Night Venue.

The Scottish Award for Excellence in Interior Design award is the only interior design category in the whole of the Scottish Design awards. Jim Hamilton from Graven Images, who oversaw the design of Tigerlily, said: “This is the only Interior Design category for the design awards and it covers a broad scope of architecture and branding, so it’s refreshing for the award to go to an establishment like Tigerlily.

A huge amount of work and effort went into really pushing the boundaries in terms of design, and the result is a truly beautiful, rounded design success of which we are very proud. It’s certainly nice to get this kind of recognition.”

Tigerlily also swooped two of the prestigious Theme Bar & Restaurant awards, the first for Best UK Design, and the second for Best Late Night Venue for the hotel’s subterranean club Lulu.

This is a real accolade for Tigerlily, as the Theme Awards pays homage to excellence in the bar and restaurant trade throughout the UK, and the ceremony has come to be the ‘must-attend’ event of the industry.

The awards come shortly after Tigerlily earned its coveted place on the Conde Nast Hot Hotels list 2007, when it was named by the world-renowned travel magazine as one of the World’s Coolest Hotels.

Situated in the city’s historic George Street, the transformation of this classic three-storey townhouse with innovative design continually impresses guests, press and industry experts alike.

Lucy Henderson, Marketing Manager at Montpeliers (Edinburgh), the group behind the Tigerlily phenomenon, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with these latest awards, which pay real tribute to the immense creative effort and innovation which has gone into the creation of Tigerlily.

What is so fantastic is that Tigerlily is being recognised not only as a Scottish but a UK-wide success. The consistent award success the hotel has accrued shows that Tigerlily is leading the way for Scottish hospitality in terms of service, innovation and style.”
