RED carpet glamour has made an appearance at a Bield Kirkintilloch retirement housing development as tenants and staff celebrated the people who have made an outstanding contribution to the development.

The black-tie event took place at the development where HND Photograhy students from New College Lanarkshire were out in force to capture the images of the award winners.

Awards were presented by Provost Una Walker for a number of categories, from the ‘Unsung Heroes’ award, which recognises those who have gone out their way to make Whitehill Court a better place to be, to the ‘Full of Life’ award celebrating tenants’ enthusiasm.

Una said: “Bringing a bit of glitz and glamour to Whitehill, the awards have been a roaring success and I’m delighted to have played a supporting role.

“There is an outstanding sense of community here and I think that was evident tonight.”

The £1,000 raised by the event was donated to the Children’s Hospice Glasgow as determined by Whitehill Court’s social committee who created and organised the awards.

Funds were raised through tickets to the event, a raffle and the 10,000 steps a day challenge which staff and tenants completed.

Margaret McEwan, Retirement Housing Manager, said: “It’s fantastic to see everyone getting involved in dressing up and getting into the spirit of the awards.

“All of the winners were thoroughly deserved and we’ve all had a lovely time.”

All Bield employees are dedicated to providing quality housing and services which will enhance and enrich the lives of older people in Scotland in line with Bield’s ‘Free to Be’ philosophy which lets people make their own choices about how they live their lives while being there to support them when they need it.
