Bield Tech Initiative Hits Headlines

Successful PR Campaign helps teens teach tenants technologyIt’s been a great start to the month for Bield, Scottish care and housing provider, with a week of wide-ranging coverage across multiple titles following a new initiative that saw teenagers teaching IT skills to tenants.

Bield’s Pentland View Court development in Livingston teamed up with a local Deans Community High School to implement the new initiative, known as ‘Fit2Gether’.

Our Edinburgh-based PR Agency works alongside Bield to share its stories with numerous regional, online and national media outlets.

This heart-warming piece hit many of the online industry titles, such as Scottish Housing News, Care Industry News and Housing Scotland Today. It also hit the national press in the Daily Record.

Funding for the scheme was awarded by Bield after an application from the Pentland View Court Development, resulting in the purchase of four ipads and installation of wifi for the tenants to use. The aim of the scheme is to build the confidence of tenants with using technology and to help them stay in touch with family and friends they may not otherwise see.

Sandra McShane, Development Manager at Pentland View Court said: “Tenants have loved being able to improve their IT skills and we have become very modern-focused here at Pentland View Court.

“There was a variety of reasons behind every individual’s desire to be online; some people wanted to set up and send emails, others wanted to shop online, play games, understand and use social media or simply learn to use search engines and reminisce over what they could find.”

The coverage comes as part of a long-standing PR campaign for Bield which has seen it receive coverage across all the major care titles and national newspapers.
