29 OCT Able Magazine OnlineBield, Scotland’s leading provider of housing and care, has been working with a team of  local volunteers in Dundee through a Volunteer Friendly Award scheme.

The housing provider operates 11 housing and support services across Dundee and is currently working towards the award, having  committed to involve volunteers at its Dundee sheltered housing residencies to provide further support to older people.

The increasing number of volunteers in the area work as Social Activity Assistants, Befrienders and Silver Surfer Tutors who teach individual residents how to use the internet so they can communicate with loved ones who might not live locally.

News of Bield’s participation in this scheme was featured online, on Able Magazine’s website.

Published twice a month in print and updated daily online, Able Magazine highlights and explores the issues relating to physically disabled people living in the UK. Its circulation in print is 32,000.
