Determined efforts by housing and care specialists Bield to improve the lives of people in their care in East Dunbartonshire has gained recognition from the prestigious UK Housing Awards.
Bield is one of six nominated in the ‘Specialist Landlord’ category for its services at Whitehill Court, Kirkintilloch and Oakburn Park, Milngavie.
The UK Housing Awards – now in their 18th year – attracted more than 250 entries from all over the UK.
The two Bield services have excelled in the dual focus of supporting people living with dementia and giving respite breaks to their carers.
Brian Logan, Chief Executive of Bield, said: “Ultimately, the driving force behind our work is to improve the quality of lives of the people in our care.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the fantastic work of our staff at Whitehill Court and Oakburn Park is being recognised.
“Awards are an important way to showcase the great work that goes on within our organisation.
“We are looking forward to the awards and after being nominated three times before, we are hopeful that we will have a winning year.”
The UK Housing Awards – which will be announced at a ceremony in London on April 29 – are the longest established and most respected awards in the social housing sector, recognising the ingenuity, creativity, passion and results of housing associations and individuals across the UK.
Grainia Long, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, said: “The UK Housing Awards recognise the excellent and innovative work being done by organisations and individuals across our industry, but perhaps more importantly they help to push up standards and provide inspiration.
“As ever, the quality of the entries we received this year is evident from the fantastic standard of the finalists.”
Bield – a registered charity in their 41st year of business – has grown from humble beginnings, opening its first housing development in Bo’ness to become a major provider of a wide range of housing and care services for around 20,000 older people across 22 local authorities.
