Bield Birthday Celebrates Joys Of Being Old

Bield Housing And Care Press releases

Bield's BirthdayTenants with Scotland’s leading housing and care provider are celebrating the joys of old age in a series of events to mark the organisation’s 43rd birthday.

Developments across the country are holding a range of activities this week to mark the anniversary of Edinburgh-based Bield – based around the organisation’s ‘Free to Be’ philosophy.

Chief Executive Brian Logan said Bield’s core value over the last 43 years has been to deliver high quality services to help to improve the lives of Scotland’s older people.

He said: “We want to give our tenants choice about how they live their lives and enable them to remain independent for as long as possible.

“Older people’s aspirations are changing. They want to be able to live in their own homes for as long as possible, not go into residential homes just because they need extra care.

“They don’t want set mealtimes and set activities – they want to live their lives as they did before, but with that extra safety and security that care can provide.

“Bield is at the forefront of this revolution with its ‘Free to Be’ philosophy – allowing older people the chance to be able to live their own lives for as long as possible.

“We’re delighted that so many of our developments have celebrated our birthday this week by hosting a Free to Be day to endorse the joys of independent living in old age.”

Bield is a registered charity which grew from humble beginnings, starting out with one housing development in Bo’ness to become a major of a wide range of housing and services for around 20,000 older people across 22 local authority areas
