Bar Workers Dress to Impress – and catch the eye of Bar Magazine

NKD Clothing Blog

Bar Magazine articleDesigns by leading work and corporate wear supplier NKD Clothing have featured in the UK’s most prestigious licenced trade publication, Bar Magazine.

The staff uniforms, designed by NKD Clothing for workers at the plush Glasshouse at Eskmills restaurant and lounge bar in Musselburgh, provide the leading image for the magazine’s article on the development of corporate clothing in licenced premises and how it helps shape brand identity.

The two page article – headlined Follow the brand – tells how NKD Clothing has produced bespoke clothing companies such as Malmaison, Hotel Du Vin and De Vere and also features extensive quotes from managing director Gill Eastgate.

In the piece, Gill outlines how uniforms are often the last thing operators think of when opening a bar and says: “They put so much effort into the decor and the drinks but then so many times they just stick the staff in black shirts. Black shirts are very practical but there’s a vast range on offer from casual right through to very formal.

“A lot of staff are in dual-purpose roles if there is a bar, restaurant and cafe so the design has to be quite fluid. People like to be told that they look good in something nice so they are going to perform better. It might be easier to attract and retain staff as, along with pay, uniform is one of the things that people moan about.”
