A record number of locals in Perth and Kinross attended public exhibitions to learn about the proposal of community partnership approach.

A record number of locals visited the exhibitions with 140 attendants overall, to find out more about the Bandirran Wind Farm, which were held on Tuesday, May 7 at St. Martins Village Hall in Balbeggie and Wednesday, May 8 at Inchture Hotel.

Initial feedback from the two public exhibitions held close to the proposed site, reveal that members of the local community are feeling positive towards the proposition of a community partnership scheme and the potential for creation of jobs initiatives in the region.

The exhibitions welcomed 90 people to Balbeggie Village Hall and approximately 50 locals visited the exhibition at Inchture Hotel.

Shared Revenues

Under the proposed partnership, communities surrounding the development would secure a share of the revenues generated from the wind farm, which they could in turn plough into priority community projects and initiatives.

Colin Anderson, development director at Banks Renewables, said: “It was great to get some feedback from local people attending the exhibitions and we would like to thank everyone who came along to express their views.

“I believe the Bandirran Community Partnership proposal is a unique opportunity for the area and allows the surrounding communities to take control of their futures. It has the potential to allow delivery of important and positive projects in the surrounding area and support long term economic recovery in the region.”
