Festival Kit

AS THE FRINGE hits the halfway mark, revellers at this year’s Festival are being offered the ultimate ‘Festival Survival Kit’ in a bid to save them from being stranded phoneless, friendless and soaked to the core.

The kit, which has been painstakingly put together by Edinburgh computer repair chain, SimplyFixIt has been designed with years of experience dealing with distressed visitors to the world’s biggest arts festival.

Worth over £40, the first 25 visitors to request the survival kit at its Forrest Road store as of Thursday 18th August will receive it completely free of charge.

Scott Wilkinson, Business Development Manager at SimplyFixIt, said: “With our shop on Forrest Road so close to the action of the Festival, we’re acutely aware of the troubles people can have with their phones, particularly if they’re out and about all day catching shows.

“It can be a horrible feeling when you drop your phone in your pint and not least because you’ve ruined your pint!

“Tech can be a wonderful addition to your life, but the last thing you want exploring a new city is for it to let you down and ruin your stay.”

The lifeline pack, destined to be the saviour of many revellers, includes a powerbank, ensuring plenty of battery life for photos, calls and navigating Edinburgh’s many venues.

Also included is a Dragons Den backed ‘Reviveaphone’, having seen the trouble visitors to the city can have with their tech during the Fringe with rain, alcohol and fluids damaging technology beyond apparent repair.

Further must-haves for busy visitors include a guide to Edinburgh’s unique slang, as well as a selfie-stick for these all important “Facebook” memories.

Finishing off the kit is the essential rain poncho to keep of the best of the Capital’s weather.

“With the Reviveaphone kit included, people don’t need to give up hope on their device; hopefully we will save a few phones and keep people from missing their show or catching up with their friends.”

“I don’t think we could really call it a survival kit for the Edinburgh Festival without something for the rain. As they say ‘if you can see Edinburgh Castle you know it’s going to rain… If you can’t see the castle it’s because it’s already raining’.

Festival-goers looking to get hold of one of the 25 free Survival Kits should head to SimplyFixIt’s Forrest Road shop, just minutes from the Guilded Balloon, Pleasance Dome and the BBC at the Edinburgh Festivals.

With six stores in Edinburgh, most venues are within easy reach of a SimplyFixIt meaning that if anything goes wrong, visitors and locals can head in for a quick turnaround.
