AS ENGLISH is my second language, I never thought I would get an internship in a PR agency in the UK.

Life is crazy. This probably isn’t the most appropriate introduction to my final blog post but this has been a whirlwind few weeks for me – in the best way possible!

When I started my PR and Media degree, I would constantly ask myself “why are you doing this?”. It wasn’t because I didn’t enjoy the course, I believed I would never get an internship in a PR agency here – due to English being my second language.

January was the month that proved me wrong, the month I started my unforgettable adventure with award-winning PR agency, Holyrood PR.

Every day has been different, it’s amazing how much I’ve learned during the past few weeks.

From creating Photoshop montages and learning how to update the website, to drafting social media posts for clients and working on press releases – I’ve experienced the many different sides to PR.

I had so much fun working on my intern video with videographer Elisabeth, and taking part in the team brainstorming sessions where we discussed everyone’s creative ideas.

I loved interviewing happy buyers for Bield and preparing a success post for CALA Homes.

January 2020 was an exciting but busy month. I’ve learnt what real time management looks like – juggling my internship with a part-time weekend job and uni work in between.

Today, on my last day, I’m feeling quite emotional. It seems strange to think that I won’t be back here at 9am starting the day with a newspaper sweep.

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone in the team for always being patient, friendly and helpful.

This internship has helped me to overcome my original belief that my English would limit me, showing me instead that with a positive attitude, determination and hard work – anything is possible.
