Looking back on my month in an internship so good I might never leave

Alice Hope, our latest intern, reflects on her first month as she now joins Holyrood PR as PR Assistant

By Alice Hope

I am delighted that whilst my time as an intern here at Holyrood PR is coming to an end, I will be returning as a PR Assistant. The internship has not only given me my first glimpse into the world of PR but has fully opened the door and welcomed me into it with open arms.

Sitting writing my final blog post of my internship, it does really feel like the time has flown by. When I first stepped into the office, I knew absolutely nothing about PR, but now, thanks to the team at Holyrood, I have gained vast experience that will only grow as I begin my career here.

Given what I’ve already learnt in one month, I can’t wait to discover what else awaits for me.

The wide breadth of clients has allowed me to work on such a variety of tasks, from writing press releases, to making coverage montages on Photoshop, or even, my personal favourite, filming an Art Attack style video for one of their clients. An internship at Holyrood PR really does test all your talent possibilities.

The Holyrood team have been so welcoming and inclusive, letting me into all sorts of jobs and activities that I would have previously thought beyond me. However, when I was thrown into my first press release on day one, I realised it wasn’t so daunting. If it wasn’t for the team’s confidence in me, I wouldn’t have as much confidence in PR or anywhere near as much experience under my belt.

After graduating from social anthropology, the process of finding the right industry for me was one I looked on with dread, but thanks to Holyrood PR, I have landed on my feet.

As an intern who stepped into Holyrood PR without any experience or much prior knowledge in PR at all, I couldn’t recommend this internship enough. The amount you learn and skills you acquire in just one month is incredible. No matter your level of understanding of PR, the internship is certainly for you as the team adapt so well to make sure that you get the absolute most out of your time here.

After my month here, I am immensely lucky to say that it doesn’t end there.
