After Hours Mingling…

Blog

Working in PR, we are often tasked with organising launch events which are a little stressful to say the least, so it is rather nice when we find ourselves on the receiving end for once and are able to mingle and enjoy a few glasses of fizz!

Last week, I was invited along to The List Eating and Drinking Guide Awards at The Scottish Café in The National Gallery.

The awards also heralded the launch of the 2012/2013 Eating and Drinking Guide which we were given a special sneak peek of!

The well respected guide, which is now in its 19th edition, contains reviews of over 900 restaurants, bistros, cafes, pubs and bars in Edinburgh, Glasgow and the surrounding areas – which I’m sure will aid in my resolution to spread my gastronomic wings!

Winners of the evening included Edinburgh institution Henderson’s and upmarket Indian, Mithas – sister restaurant of the hugely successful Khushi’s.

The talk of all of this delicious food revved up my taste buds, so I was thrilled to spy some food circulating! After a long day at the office, my tummy was groaning, so I quickly got stuck into the evening’s (delicious) offerings, which were created by The Scottish Café in partnership with Italian beer, Moretti.

I ate:

-Scottish Haddock in a Moretti batter with potato crisp and homemade tartare sauce

-Inverurie beef slow cooked with Moretti and Scotherbs Rosemary served with Carrolls Heritage potatoes

-Crispy Clava Brie breaded with spiced Moretti apple chutney

-Morreti caramel cream

There was of course also some lovely beverages on offer, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Beaujolais.

Not wanting to go wild on a school night, I stuck to a couple of small glasses and hotfooted it home before I overindulged.

A lovely evening!  A big thanks to Freya Cowan at The List for my invitation (pictured below left)
