Aberdour Club Golf Day Raises Record Funds

Cala Homes Press releases

Aberdour Golf day part sponsored by CALA Homes SPORTING opportunities for youngsters in the village of Aberdour have been given a major boost following a successful charity golf day.

The event, which took place at Aberdour Golf Club, resulted in record total donations of £1600, thanks in part to a £500 donation from CALA Homes.

The money will go towards funding crucial supplies and upkeep for the Fife village’s football teams, benefitting players as young as nine through to the senior team – all based at Hawkcraig Road.

David Erskine, co-organiser of the event and a member of Aberdour Sporting Development Club, said: “It is especially important that youngsters in the village are provided the opportunity to get involved with sport, for health but also to make lifelong friends – such as those that took part in the golf day.

“While the golf was certainly varied, the day was a huge amount of fun – and it is always nice to know it is going towards such a worthwhile local cause.

“We’re especially grateful to our CALA Homes as their donation helped us reach such a healthy total.”

The day was attended by more than 40 players, including former Hibs and Dundee United player and manager Mixu Paatelainen, with the majority of golfers having played for Aberdour football teams from throughout the years.

Rod Howat, Planning Manager at CALA Homes (East), said: “We are delighted to help Aberdour SDC’s efforts to provide facilities and support grassroots football in Aberdour.

“It is also very pleasing to see the support of the sport by former players – further emphasising the fact that the camaraderie of a football club can bring many benefits beyond simply the sport.”

CALA Homes is headquartered in Scotland and employs 600 people and earned its reputation on the high quality of the homes it builds.
