SUPPORT SWENGLAND (Gaynor)

Swedish cider brand Kopparberg has taken a bit of a risk for the Euro’s this year. After deciding to target both the Swedish and British (English) market its campaign features the coined phrase ‘Support Swengland’ as not to appear biased. The campaign centres around the game with kits being created for this make believe team which includes bunting, double sided English and Swedish flags and the most random prop at all Swedish and English moustaches. It seems like an excuse to get as much publicity as possible hooking the campaign to the Euros. I am not convinced and won’t be supporting Swengland.

ITS NOT A SMART-PHONE, IT’S A SMART-MAGNET… (Sarah)

A fridge magnet that orders water? And there was me thinking that when taps were invented they had solved that issue. An article (on mashable.com) has outlined Evian’s latest product – the Smartdrop – a web-enabled fridge magnet designed to allow you to schedule deliveries of bottled water. The brand is in the process of rolling out the device and plans to offer a smartphone app that does the same thing. Personally I have never seen the appeal of bottled water (unless augmented by a nice fruity flavour) however, the article also references a pizzeria in Dubai who developed a similar tool allowing you to order pizza with the press of a button. Now THAT sounds more like it….

BATH SALT NATION (Aimee)

Ah yes it’s happened again! Another victim of the bath salt frenzy has been killed in America after rampaging around the street naked, strangling her son and a dog!Bonkers-how has the effects of this drug labelled the new ‘LSD’ been kept quiet for so long?
Don’t try this at home folks and don’t try it outside!

LET THEM EAT CAKE…BUT DONT BLOG ABOUT IT (Emily)

Nine year old Martha Payne from Lochgilphead, Argyll has been banned from posting on her blog NeverSeconds, which documented and rated her primary school’s dinners. Celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver commended the blog after she made comparisons to the meals and his “Fight for Healthy Meals.” Jamie sent her an autographed copy of her cookbook, that said “Shocking but inspirational blog. Keep going. Big love from Jamie x.” Though Martha did ask permission from her teachers to photograph her £2 lunches, the decision to shut down the blog was made by the local council because the blog made headlines in a newspaper.

SCOTTISH FLASHER CRACKS AMERICA (Aimee)

My kilt flashing cousin has cracked America! I thought making it into the local Oz press after streaking at an Austrlain rugby game was crazy enough but after landing himself in the Daily Record and the Edinburgh Evening News (although they got his name wrong) and now in the Huffington Post-it just goes to show what a bit of cheek can get you and us Scots are the best at it. Journalist Andy Campbell asked my cousin to bare all in an interview exposing his top tips for promising streakers of the future!
